Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information SolverBox ("we", "us") handles when you use solverbox.net (the "Site"), why, and the choices you have. The Site is a collection of free puzzle, math and science solvers that run in your web browser. You do not need an account to use it.

1. Summary

No sign-up: we do not ask for your name, email address, password or payment details.
Your puzzle input stays in your browser. Solving happens locally with JavaScript, and we do not send or store what you type on our servers.
The Site is funded by ads from Google AdSense and uses analytics services. These third parties may use cookies and collect technical data such as your IP address.
We do not sell your personal information.

2. Information We Handle

Puzzle and calculation input

Grids, clues, equations, text and other input you enter into a solver are processed entirely in your browser. They are not transmitted to or stored on our servers. Some tools download static files from the Site, such as an English word list, but your input is never included in those requests.

Data stored on your device

A few features save small amounts of data in your browser's local storage so they work the way you left them:

Whether you dismissed the language suggestion banner.
Book of Answers: your recent answers, favorites and theme preference.

This data stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Data collected automatically by service providers

When you visit the Site, our hosting, analytics and advertising providers automatically receive technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages visited, time of visit and approximate location derived from your IP address.

Information you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use it only to reply to you.

3. Cookies

We do not set cookies for the solvers themselves. Third-party services on the Site, mainly Google AdSense and Google Analytics, use cookies and similar technologies to measure traffic, prevent fraud and show ads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the solvers will keep working without them.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on those visits.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics and pageview.app to understand, in aggregate, which pages and tools people use, so we can improve them. These services receive the technical data described in Section 2. Google Analytics uses cookies; you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. We do not use analytics data to identify individual visitors.

6. Hosting

The Site is served through Cloudflare, which processes technical request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages quickly and protect the Site against abuse.

7. How We Use Information

To operate, secure and troubleshoot the Site.
To understand which solvers are useful and improve them.
To show ads that keep the Site free.
To reply when you contact us.
To comply with legal obligations.

8. Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information. Technical data is processed by the providers named above under their own privacy policies. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

The share buttons on the Site are plain links. Nothing is sent to a social network unless you click a button, and the network you choose then handles your data under its own privacy policy.

9. Data Retention

We do not keep your puzzle input because it never reaches us. Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Data collected by our providers is retained according to their own policies and settings.

10. Your Choices and Rights

You can block or delete cookies, opt out of personalized ads and Google Analytics using the links above, and clear locally stored data in your browser at any time. Depending on where you live, such as in the EU, UK or California, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. Because we do not run accounts, we hold very little data that can identify you, but you can contact us at hi@solverbox.net with any request and we will respond within a reasonable time.

11. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the Site or the services we use change. We will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
